Out to sea! Posted August 12, 2014 #51 Share Posted August 12, 2014 I guess I am in the minority -- a suite would be nice, but not for an additional $500.That is a lot of money and would cover a lot of other cruise-related expense -- alcohol, steakhouse, pictures, casino.:o Same here. I'd rather spend more days at sea than stay in a nicer cabin.
Out to sea! Posted August 12, 2014 #52 Share Posted August 12, 2014 you initially paid $560pp times 2 equals $1120 port taxes $255.04 equals: $1375.04 total cost for 2 per person equals: $637.52 divided by 7 days: $98.21 per day per person for balcony so.. add your $500 to your total of $1375.04 equals: $1875.04 divided by 2person: $937.52 which will be $133.93 per person per day A good price for an Ocean Suite: but as I mentioned before, make sure it's an Ocean suite.. and not Junior suite.. they are nice too, but not exactly the same as Ocean suite. just be warned: once you have a suite, you can't go back. they say the same thing about balconies and I have no problems going back to my wonderful PT cabins. :)
cruise pup Posted August 13, 2014 #53 Share Posted August 13, 2014 I received several upsell offers from Carnival via email, not phone calls. They were for direct bookings. One was from inside to balcony for $80. and the other was from inside to ocean view, also $80. Both were 8 day cruises and I was sailing solo so I took both since I thought they were worth the money. I think I was offered another one which I turned down. Can't remember the details on that one. Speak of the devil, I just received an email from Carnival offering me an upsell on my upcoming Splendor sailing from my 1A stateroom to an ocean view cabin for $24. The actual difference in the categories is around $450. Couldn't pass that up!
BenjiRodney Posted September 12, 2014 #54 Share Posted September 12, 2014 We got the offer this week for a Grand Suite for 390.00. I took it, Our balcony was 639 per person and the suite was 1029.00 per person if we would have paid the going rates for it. A savings of 780, to me it made sense to try out our first suite. Awesome deal. I actually received the upsell call as well. I originally booked an inside cabin for 5 people. So when they called I couldn't say "yes" fast enough- saved $750. It was worth it for the size of my family. Plus we were in the room more since we had the space. Have a great trip!

BenjiRodney Posted September 16, 2014 #60 Share Posted September 16, 2014 Today's offer was to go from our Ocean Suite to a Grand Suite for 1200.00, I don't think so. No Thanks.
skiwee Posted September 16, 2014 #61 Share Posted September 16, 2014 I loved the jacuzzi tub! Used it all the time. Ours was pretty much a regular tub with 4 jets in it. Two didn't do Anything. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
cruise pup Posted September 16, 2014 #62 Share Posted September 16, 2014 Got an email offering me an "unadvertised" Owner's Suite for my Ecstasy Cruise. I was away and contacted the PVP who was offering it. We played phone tag and the gist of it is they were already taken so I don't know how much Carnival wanted. She mentioned to contact her about other great offers but that's probably a sales pitch. Anyway, I always get her voice mail when I call so it's not worth the trouble. Not looking to book another cruise.
