alergic to scuba mouthpiece ,any suggestions?

Recommended Posts

anyone alergic to latex? I am ! I just bought some lower end scuba gear and when I used the mouth piece Oh my. I swelled up in my throat. My lips were not as bad but I only wore it for a few seconds. I am trying to soak it now (thinking maybe it had that powder they use on latex gloves) I have an awful time anymore with things. Straws, plastics cups, I wonder if they use recycled plastic, or if it is latex in the products. Any suggestions, or do they make the mouth piece out of anything else? I am new at this. Any suggestions will be appreciated. thanks

There is such a thing as silicon mouthpieces check with your local dive shop. There is also a brand of mouthpeice that you mold to your teeth - its not the usual black rubber looking material (its clear) which MAY be latex free, again check with a good dive shop.
