ScottsSweetie Posted September 2, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2014 A few questions for recent Freedom cruisers: 1. I have never been on a 6 night cruise - how many elegant nights? Which nights? 2. Never been out of Port Everglades - easy to navigate? I wanted to park off-site but I have been overruled - is there anything we need to know? 3. What day / approximate time was the Past Guest Party? 4. Any good bands / musicians we should check out? 5. Is the aft pool adults only? 6. Any trouble finding spots on serenity? 7. How was the steakhouse? 8. What is the current platinum gift? 9. Do they have the towel animal explosion and what morning is that? Thanks for any help you can give me! :p

cruizinisthebest Posted September 2, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 2, 2014 A few questions for recent Freedom cruisers: 1. I have never been on a 6 night cruise - how many elegant nights? Which nights? I think 2 but don't quote me. 2. Never been out of Port Everglades - easy to navigate? I wanted to park off-site but I have been overruled - is there anything we need to know? Port Everglades is very close to the airport. We took a hotel shuttle but there are port employees who help navigate the traffic from what I saw. 3. What day / approximate time was the Past Guest Party? We were on an 8 day. Past guest party was at 5:00 on the last port day. 4. Any good bands / musicians we should check out? We loved the guitar player in red frog. He played every night and sometimes short sets during the day. There was a Latin band playing every evening across from the casino. The piano bar was always packed in the evenings. We went once. Once was enough for us. Lol. 5. Is the aft pool adults only? Yes. And peaceful. I took a nap in one of the loungers one evening. It was awesome! 6. Any trouble finding spots on serenity? Can't help there. Never went. 7. How was the steakhouse? See answer to # 6. 8. What is the current platinum gift? Sorry only gold! 9. Do they have the towel animal explosion and what morning is that? Yes. I missed it but hubby caught it on the second sea day. Thanks for any help you can give me! :p Any other questions I'll be glad to help if I can. One month ago tomorrow I boarded the Freedom.:(
steph7021 Posted September 4, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 4, 2014 And there are 2 different answers about the aft pool? If like to know. We will be in the Freedom in May and we love aft pools. But, we have a 15 and 16 year old...as well as a 19 year old. Kind of bummed if it's adults only. Or, do they really notice teenage girls laying out? cruizinisthebest Posted September 4, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 4, 2014 Aft pool on the Freedom was definitely adults only as of August 3, 2014. The entire aft area doesn't restrict kids but the pools and the hot tubs back there are for adults.

Or, do they really notice teenage girls laying out? The aft pool & hot tubs are technically adults only on this ship. Whether or not that is enforced is another issue. But if they are laying in the chairs and not going in the water, I am guessing that you would be alright, but I'm not totally sure. ScottsSweetie Posted September 4, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted September 4, 2014 Thanks for the clarification as I was also wondering about the different responses.
sailor_jimc Posted September 4, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 4, 2014 As far as the parking question.. while offsite is less expensive, you pay for it with convenience and time. You park offsite and you could take an extra hour in shuttling times. Yes there is a Frig in each room. It's more like a "less warm box" instead of a refrigerator though. If you want it to keep thing colder you need to leave the door to the cabinet open so the heat gets out.
Ontario_Cruiser Posted September 4, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 4, 2014 I will answer based on my experience on the 16 Aug Sailing (8 day). A few questions for recent Freedom cruisers: 1. I have never been on a 6 night cruise - how many elegant nights? Which nights? A six day I was on previously had 2. This may have changed, and the nights will likely be dependent on the itinerary. Ours was the first seaday and the second to last night of the cruise. 2. Never been out of Port Everglades - easy to navigate? I wanted to park off-site but I have been overruled - is there anything we need to know? We flew in the day before and took a shuttle. There is an adjacent parking structure. 3. What day / approximate time was the Past Guest Party? We are red, so were not invited. 4. Any good bands / musicians we should check out? David Lazarus was awesome. He played afternoons by the pool and evenings in the Red Frog Pub. 5. Is the aft pool adults only? Yes, it was signed for adults only, and I only ever saw adults in it. The area around it has one of the ice cream dispensers and the pizza station, so there are kids in the area of the pool. 6. Any trouble finding spots on serenity? We only went a few times as we had kids in tow, but there seemed to be spots. 7. How was the steakhouse? We went to the cooking demo and the food was awesome, but we did not go otherwise. 8. What is the current platinum gift? As noted, we are Red, so no clue. 9. Do they have the towel animal explosion and what morning is that? Yes they had it early one morning. It was the second last day of the cruise, and it was also a sea day. I am not sure when it would be on your sailing. I loved the family of bears and the alligator eating an animal. Thanks for any help you can give me! :p
Pia1913 Posted September 4, 2014 #11 Share Posted September 4, 2014 (edited) I am a local to Pt. Everglades and parking off site is a breeze. Sometimes, for the privilege of spending $15/day to park in the adjacent garage, you have to come late or there will be nowhere to park. I usually use Park n Go or Premier.
