Is there Hold'em Poker on the Regal

I sailed the Star Princess to Alaska last May and they had an all electronic poker table which didn't use a live dealer. It was fun and I wonder if the Regal has one of these tables in the casino too?

Thanks in advance

Yes there is, on our cruise though, most nights, players did not show until after 21:00, and stayed until the casino closing time.

May have something to do with the house rake being high.

Casino host usually gave a free round each night though for players.

Can't speak about the Regal, but I was on the Royal earlier this year, and it has one of the electronic poker machines. When it wasn't running a tournament, the only game it was set up to play was no-limit. Couldn't get them to run a limit game. As mentioned above, the rake is absurdly high, so I never sat in on a game. The take-out on the tournaments was also ridiculous. At least you don't have to tip a dealer. ;)

How much was the rake?

How much was the rake?

I don't remember exactly, but I do remember thinking how much higher it was than in my home state's poker rooms. It may have been something like 10% with either no max or a $10-20 max, but don't quote me on that. ;)

Edited to add: I don't like the electronic games anyhow. I've only played on one once. That was on a Princess ship several years ago when they were first introduced. I was playing a $4/$8 limit game, but it was very loosely supervised, if at all. I noticed a couple of buddies sitting across from me sharing a peak at each others hole cards. As soon as I saw that, I got up and haven't returned since. Seems the opportunities for cheating, especially at an unsupervised game, are many.

15% rake with max of $8

That's crazy! I was watching last year when I was on the Crown. There was a great deal of table talk about the current hands which of course is not allowed. No supervision at all. I also do not trust the machines. Many crazy hands with large pots which of course means larger rakes.

Yes the rake is big and you do see a lot of crazy hands (this is a function of the increase in hands per hour over a human dealer and not programming) but the players are so bad that I never fail to make money on a cruise.

I love those tables - for some reason they attract very bad players (i think new players especially are more intimidated by a live dealer). You also get more hands in per hour and there is never a dealer error. Simple ABC poker play will almost guarantee you a good night. Plus the pots are much higher which negates the rake, and as pointed out there is no dealer to toke.

Be nice to the other players, compliment them on their play no matter how bad, and tell them how unlucky they are as their chips keep sliding to your account.

Good Luck!
