Leo Jay Posted August 15, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2005 on the 'Iron thread...The fire hazard is not ONLY the iron being left on. It's the overload of the electrical system. Hadn't considered that. Is that why, by all reports, the hair dryers provided seem underpowered? Electrical power strips seems to be on everyone's lists of things to bring along, but I don't recall seeing the safety issue about that. Should we worry about power strips? Do the cruiselines have a policy on those?
big_duck Posted August 15, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 15, 2005 I think your suspicion about the hairdryers are probably correct. Most items plugged in to the powerstrips electronic device chargers for instance draw relatively low wattage compared to irons, blenders and crockpots. If you do bring a powerstrip I would recommend the type that has a built in circuit breaker.
Leo Jay Posted August 15, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted August 15, 2005 Yes, I would definitely bring a decent one with a circuit breaker.
