MKS Posted October 13, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 13, 2014 Help on internet in Caribbean. Do you pay by time like half hour or pay by how much traffic you use. How much cost approx. Is the speed good, for example can you use Skype video. Thanks for all input.
WeeCountyMan Posted October 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2014 Look for free wifi in cafes etc. Follow the crew - they are always "in the know" when it comes to local internet access.
Little Nell Posted October 14, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 14, 2014 (edited) I didn't find the wifi up to much on the Dream in the Caribbean. It was dreadfully slow and kept crashing. You have to log on and off and most of my wifi time was lost in the logging in and off process and for every hour paid for I would say I was lucky to have 15-30 minutes actual time online. There are packages where the more time you buy, the cheaper the cost of minutes. I didn't use skype or see anyone using it on board but I can't imagine, given how unreliable the signal is, that it would work well at all. I did see people using it effectively in cafes with free wifi. WCM is spot on. When ashore look out for the crew. They will be in cafes with free wifi. You can't miss them. The signal was always excellent and was an opportunity for a seat and a refreshing drink too. Edited October 14, 2014 by Little Nell
