Downgrade?

My husband and I are booked on the Fascination for 11/8. We booked an interior room and this morning I saw the past guest promotion so I did a mock booking to see what the price would be. I found a porthole room and $50 OBC and the price difference would be around $90. I called because I would like to have a porthole and was told that it is a downgrade. I'm confused...:rolleyes:

We have a 4A Interior booked now.

Porthole rooms are generally the cheapest rooms on the ship. They do however, have a small window so we prefer them over an interior room.

Are you booked Early Saver?

 

If NOT, then you normally cannot get fare adjustments after Final Payment.

 

If YES, you should be eligible for rate drops for your 4A category. I'm thinking the porthole is a lower category than your 4A category, and you're not allowed to downgrade with Early Saver.

Thanks, yes we are booked early saver, but since they consider a porthole a downgrade we can't get the room. I was hoping to move to a porthole room. There weren't any available when we originally booked otherwise, we would have gotten it then. But that's ok, we are cruising! We have never stayed inside, but we are always out and about anyway. We have an interior for a cruise in March and the price is the same for the past passenger sale but there's the OBC so I am trying to get it. Same category room for that one.

So, I ended up calling back about another cruise we are taking due to price drop on it and the lady I talked to this time also took a look at this one in November. She got us moved to a porthole room and we got the OBC! Score!:D
