Debit Card at Check in

Just an update on this. Sister insisted on using her debit card. NCL told her upon check-in that they hold $500 on it and that they'd let her know if she neared exceeding it and then take $500 additional hold. As everyone mentioned, she had a hell of a time with her bank getting the unused $ back to the checking account. They held it for a solid week after travel.

Sigh. I told her repeatedly not to use it but I can only do so much.

Sometimes, we can't help who our family member(s) are. We can advise and forewarn til blue in the face and they still won't get it... At least you tried.

When we took our honeymoon cruise, I gave them $300 in cash at check in. When the balance got low, we would get a warning on our tv and I would go add more cash. I was never forced to put down $100 per day per person
