Retailers selling Carnival gift cards?

If you booked it yourself online at carnival.com, then you can. For other combinations, you'll have to wait for the appropriate answers.

 

Most Travel Agents also will accept the gift cards. I know mine does.

 

Our travel agent has accepted them. They have to call Carnival to have them applied though. So it does take a little longer than just being able to apply them online yourself.

Those of you that have mentioned cards are available at Lowes, are you talking about Lowes Home Improvement, like Home Depot? Or is there a Lowes Grocery Store? I live in the northwest and we do have the home improvement Lowes. Can't say I have ever seen any gift cards other than their own...

 

Yes they are at the Lowes home improvement stores, I live in Alaska and they sell them here.

Remember, if you don't care about the fuel points at Kroger (we don't use Kroger gas), you can order them online at a 10% discount ($90 for $100 card, $450 for a $500 card) through Verizon Rewards if you have Verizon wireless, or through AARP Rewards for Good.

 

I ordered three $100 cards and put those toward my final balance, and then ordered a $500 card to use onboard for S&S account. They became available again a couple of weeks before we left, and I ordered another $500 card, but UPS lost the package, and it took me days of phone calls to Verizon to get refunded. I knew they wouldn't have inventory again in time to get me a replacement, which was a bummer. They used to be e-cards, but apparently there was some issue with those, so now they are actual hard cards that are either mailed or sent by UPS, depending on how many/value. They do charge 0.59 shipping for each card. I paid $1.77 in shipping for the three $100 cards but only 0.59 shipping for the single $500 card.

I got one at Lowe's a couple weeks ago and going to apply it to our onboard account. What's nice about buying it at Lowe's there was no service charge to buy the card just the amount that I loaded to it.

You should never get charged a service fee for a gift card regardless of which retailer you choose.

Just curious, but why would you buy gift cards at Lowes to use with Carnival? Unless there's a promotion for using credit cards (like the Chase Freedom 5x at Lowes) is there a reason to do that over just paying Carnival with a credit card?

 

Or do you pay cash for gift cards, and you're saying there's no service charge like the prepaid cards?

That's how I cover all my expenses on a cruise, usually buy cruise cash thru carnival, but there is a limit on how much per cruise so I just saw it at lowes, had the extra cash and got it so my kids & grandkids didn't know I had extra cash that week[emoji3]

Gotcha! :D Yeah cash purchase makes sense to avoid the prepaid debit card fees. Glad it works for ya!

4x fuel points is back. They sent me an email yesterday, telling me I could take advantage of it a week early. So I bought a card today.

So maybe it will officially start when 2x fuel ends on the 8/2

 

Edit my early offer expires 7/28/15 so that's when the 4x fuel points should be advertised in the website.

We used gift cards to pay off our balance and then put the balance on our sign and sail card once we got onboard, went to casino, downloaded funds, played for a while, then cashed out and had the cash to use on shore. So although we didn't use the gift card itself in casino we did use the gift card funds in the casino, playing some there but cashing a lot out.

When I've used OBC at the Casino (table games) I was charged a 3% fee, I would imagine that 3% fee applies here as well. Can someone confirm?

 

I know in the past I'd seen the slots advertised as having to fee, so maybe that's the best way.

When I pulled out cash at the tables last week ( I had gift cards on my S&S account), I was charged 3% fee. But, using slots to download from S&S, no fee. So, I would go to slots, download cash, spin once, go to cashier and cash out. Then, if I wanted to play table games, I would play with the cash I pulled out from slots.
