Texascruisers Posted August 21, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 21, 2005 Just got back from visiting my brother. We were talking about passports. My brother is adopted and was wondering if he would have any problems getting a passport. Has anybody ever done this? Thanks in advance for any help on this matter. CaptData Posted August 21, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 21, 2005 Send in his adoption papers with his birth certificate if different name. Also photo id. No problem for a friend of mine who was adopted. You need to prove you are a citizen of the country you are applying for, in the case of adoption you have to prove the name as well. it's alot like a woman proving her name after marriage. Bonnie J. Posted August 21, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 21, 2005 When My Husband Was Adopted His New Parents Were Given A New Birth Certificate With His Date Of Birth And His New Name. He Sent This In And Had No Problem Getting As Passport - It Does Not Mention He Was Adopted!
