I was booked in cabin 1284 and I have been wondering if there is one cabin that is on the same level that's better than the next. I looked and also saw that the porthole which is considered an interior cabin is larger in size than the normal interior. My first time cruising my first booking any info on picking the best cabin on the best budget and also am I able to change my cabin from 1284 to 1209 if its still available? Thanks in advance guys

If you are booked under the Early Saver rate, then you cannot switch to the porthole room. That rate does not allow for "downgrades", not even for a fee. Even though the porthole room is a much better room than a basic interior, it is classified as a lower category than all basic interiors. There are a couple other rates that do not allow any changes, but those are typically the ones where Carnival picks your room for you. So if you are not Early Saver, you most likely can move to the porthole room without any problem, as long as you do it before final payment. If they try to give you a hard time, just cancel (and you'll get all your money back), then rebook with the porthole room. The reason that you cannot do that with Early Saver is because the deposit is non-refundable with that rate.

I love the porthole rooms. They are tremendously larger than the basic interiors. Being so close to the front, they hear the waves hitting the front of the ship, and can experience more motion. If that is a concern, you would be better off staying with what you got, which is closer to midship.
