Rental Car from Orlando to Port and back again

We will be arriving a day before our cruise and staying a day later. Has anyone ever rented a car at the Orlando airport and dropped it off at the pier (or nearby), then picked up a car following the cruise at the port, returning it to the airport? We want the freedom of driving but do not want to pay $70.00 to park a rental car at the port.

I am renting through Budget. Picking up at Orlando airport, dropping in Cocoa Beach and taking their free shuttle to the port. On the way back, well pick up another car at Budget for the drive back. We got a great rate through Costco travel.

 

I believe that Hertz also has a rental car facility near Port Canaveral so you might want to check that out as well.
