Hello! Off cruising next year and looking at excursions to book through P&O or just do by ourselves. Does anyone have any recommendedations for the following places; Lisbon, Vigo, Rome, Monte Carlo, Gibraltar, Palma and Barcelona.

Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks!:p

-Lisbon we used the Hop on Hop off buss (HOHO) which was great, we could get off where we wanted to look around and get back on.

-Rome, we have been to twice, the first time we did a ship excursion, and got to see a fair amount but the second time we just paid for Rome on your own with the ship which is a coach into Rome and met my friend who lives there to take us where we missed last time, you can get a train from the Port, but they are no good if you need a wheelchair or have a buggy.

-Monte Carlo, we have been to twice, the first time we took a trip to Nice which was nice (lol) and the second time we did our own thing, its walk-able. We looked at the casino, the museum, the teack around, the second time they were setting up for the grand prix

-Gibraltar we went to the airport and walked across the runway to Spain, and then did our own thing in Gib, I wanted to do the trip up the rock but we didn't get around to it

-Barcelona, first time we went to the Nou Camp, if you like footie, and then olympic stadium and somewhere else like a little village and then the LaFamilia (ship tour), the second time our Spanish friend picked us up and took us to Park Guell - amazing, a must see! We went to LaFamilia again, and then on Las Ramblas and had tapas in a local restaurant, oh and a visit to the market is a must too!

When you get on board there will be "Port talks" held which will give you lots of tips about excursions and doing it yourself, we found these very helpful, we were onboard Azura the port talks were also on the interactive TV in the cabin. Just pick your favourite and book on board.

The best advise would be to join the rollcall for your cruise, and maybe join in with other tours, as we did for Rome. We joined 6 others on our rollcall and used Italy Shore Drivers, they gave us a great tour in 10 seater mini bus, which was perfect as our driver took us down some roads that I think the big cruise tour buses would struggle to do! We also used them in Florence and naples , although not applicable to your cruise, just letting you know we liked them enough to use them for 3 tours.

Palma is very easy to do on your own, the cathedral is well worth a look as is the marina.
