Should I transfer my booking to TA?

Funny but we see the OP in a different light. If transferring the booking to a TA (or cruise agency) would result in the cruiser getting additional perks (such as OBCs) then it seems like a no-brainer. But if there is no financial/perk advantage to the transfer then why bother.

Good question Hank, sometimes you do, sometimes you don't, once again we go back to the good TA and the not so good TA. Remember another thing once you get past final payment then game is over unless you cancel then rebook and the chance of you getting the same cabin is slim to none, if you have a GOOD TA with some pull with the cruise line they will fight for you to be compensated with an upgrade or some more OBC

My pleasure to tell you that CAS means Casinos At Sea aboard NCL ships. If you cruise and gamble on any of Norwegian cruise ships you should register at the casino and have them track your plays (rate your plays). My wife and I enjoy some time in the casino, she's a penny slot player and I like the crap table, depending on your play you can be comped cruises and only pay taxes and port fees, sometimes if your play isn't so great they still offer you 20% off your cruise but you can only do this through CAS

Thanks. Wife and I are "moderate" gamblers - about $300-$400 a night at the craps table. Never seemed to make much of an impact on perks with Player's Club - the Carnival casino affiliate. They even charge my wife for a coke. It has been reported that they offer discounts on cruises but, I guess, that's only for high rollers.

We are using a PC for first time. We have used one agent with a national travel agency for around 35 completed bookings. There were other bookings that were cancelled that are not in the above count.

Problem we have been having lately is that our TA's national agency is offering less and less to where now they are offering ZERO extra benefits. TA if offers any benefits that this national agency does not offer it comes out of their pocket.

On branch of this national agency bought out the other branch. The new national agency kept their same name but operate under new rules for both staff and clients.

Our first time with a PC has gained us a lot of OBC, meals and pending extremely hopefully sweet ultimate upgrade.

So until recently we would always say go with a local TA. But now we are thinking the other way because the PC is providing benefits our TA could never match at the same low price.

In answer to the earlier question about whether the PCC loses a commission if they switched to a TA, we had booked through our PCC when a friend persuaded us to consider checking with a TA through whom we would get miles for booking. We had been very pleased with our PCC and the assistance he had provided, but the miles sounded good too! I asked the PCC about the process for changing our reservation to the TA, and asked if he would lose anything if we did that. He assured me he would not lose anything, and went out of his way to work directly with the TA to make sure we kept our cabin, OBC and the Explore 4 program

I can completely understand those of you who are not concerned about any negative impact on the PCC if you change. I trust you can also allow me to consider that negative impact, if any, and make whatever decision I choose.

And by the way, having now booked 3 cruises with the TA, our next will be booked with the our original PCC because of the quality service we received with him in comparison to what we have with the TA. We're willing to give up the miles in exchange for the assurance that someone has our best interest at heart.

Just my opinion. . .

Personally, I would never book a cruise online. Using a TA, you have one person to work with who can check and get you the best prices. If you book online, you will get the price you see, then never hear back from the cruiseline line, unless you make a call.

It's so nice to have that one-on-one with someone who will check on everything you have concerns about.

For those folks that think they are saving having to pay someone a commission....believe me, you are still paying a commission to the cruiseline when booking online with no protection and no advocate.

A good TA will let you know when prices have dropped or there are promos that have come up. You will not get that from a website.

Doublezz,

That's great action and if that's you and your wife's play I assure you that you will be comped cruises with NCL and if you gamble in a casino on the street( I'll mention the casino name at a later time) they give you free cruise vouchers for NCL.

I think you should dump Carnival and come over to the Norwegian group of players

I'm happy that you have a ta that checks prices. Every price decrease I've ever had I've found. Not my ta when I used one. You can still get them if you book thru the cruise line. I'd rather count on myself then a third party to find my price decreases. They could easly miss some if they are short term ones.

We have good friends that are pretty big gamblers and they go on nothing but NCL cruises now because they get lots of bennies thru NCL for their gambling. Free cruises and free drinks the whole time they are gambling, not a bad deal. They use to travel nothing but Holland, so now we only catch up with them when they come to Vegas. I really don't blame them, NCL works very well for them, we just don't gamble enough to make it worth our while.
