cpa2be Posted August 25, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2005 Am I misreading the cruisecal information?? For the 10/15/05 sailing of the Navigator, it seems to indicate that there are no other ships in Port at Grand Cayman. Also, only 1 other ship in port with us at Ocho Rios and Cozumel. I've seen posters saying there are 7 or 8 ships in port at a time. Did we get lucky and get these ports to ourselves?
marcmedic Posted August 25, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2005 Finally, someone on this board on the same cruise as I am. The last time I was on this intenrary there are 6 or 7 ships in port in both Grand Cayman and Cozumel.
Lauri32 Posted August 25, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 25, 2005 Wow, more people out there sailing with us. Come by the roll call and say hello to your fellow Navigator cruisemates. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=4546176#post4546176 It looks to me like we'll be alone at GC, according to Cruisecal. cruiseky Posted August 25, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 25, 2005 I am on the same cruise and that is the information that I found. I was very excited to see that the ports won't be over crowded!
cpa2be Posted August 25, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted August 25, 2005 This will be our 3rd time sailing the Western. We haven't made it to Grand Cayman yet! Always a weather issue. Hopefully this cruise will make it there.
cruiseky Posted August 25, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 25, 2005 cpa2be, We have been to Grand Cayman twice. Our first trip we swam with the stingrays at Stingray City and the second time we spent the day at Seven Mile Beach. We love Grand Cayman.
cpa2be Posted August 25, 2005 Author #7 Share Posted August 25, 2005 Troy - we're planning to book with Soto's and swim with the stingrays. I've heard seven mile beach is wonderful, too. Is there time for both?
cruiseky Posted August 25, 2005 #8 Share Posted August 25, 2005 cpa2be, We have already booked Moby Dick Tours for the morning charter to to Stingray City. We have twelve people in our group (three familes of four). I am hoping that by doing the mornining charter, we will have time to stop by seven mile beach. If I remember correctly, the ship sails at 4PM which probably means we have to be back to the ship by 3:30PM. I wish that this was a longer stop. marcmedic Posted August 25, 2005 #9 Share Posted August 25, 2005 I wouldn't put too much faith in the website. I've never been to GC or Cozumel and only had 1 other ship in port. However if it is the case that would be great. Are all of you signed up for the meet & mingle?
cpa2be Posted August 25, 2005 Author #10 Share Posted August 25, 2005 No, we haven't signed up. Last year I signed up then couldn't attend because something else was happening at the same time. I felt bad about missing it. I wouldn't want to be a no-show again:o What if they are holding salsa lessons? Or towel folding classes? What if it conflicts with the belly flop contest? WAAAY too much pressure for a vacation!:p
cruiseky Posted August 25, 2005 #11 Share Posted August 25, 2005 I havn't signed up either!

Though my site can never be 100% accurate, it is very close. If you look at the next day in Grand Cayman, there are 5 ships in port! My site also agrees with the actual Port Authority site at: http://www.caymanport.com/schedule.htm. I have been there twice once, with three other ships, and once with no other ships... it makes a huge difference! But, fun either way... marcmedic Posted August 25, 2005 #13 Share Posted August 25, 2005 Only 2 ships in port would be awesome. Last time I was there there had to be in excess of 15,000 people in port. Everything was crowded, there were lines for everything. Same for Cozumel. Anyone got their docs yet?
cruizinbabe Posted August 26, 2005 #14 Share Posted August 26, 2005 More people on our ship! We will be on the NOS 10/15 as well. Nice to meet you all! I hadn't looked at the cal to see how many ships were going to be in port. That's awesome if we have some time to ourselves! We are doing a tour with Soto's in Grand Cayman also, so I'm sure that we'll be seeing you all. Can't wait, I'm running out of new info to read about this cruise so it better hurry up and get here.:D
Westie1 Posted August 26, 2005 #15 Share Posted August 26, 2005 Just returned from NOS cruise. We were the only ship at our terminal in Jamaica and Grand Cayman. We had one other in Cozumel. Very nice to be the only ones there. Sotocruises.com was an AWESOME tour. eNJOY
cpa2be Posted August 26, 2005 Author #16 Share Posted August 26, 2005 Thanks for posting, Brian! Good to hear from the 'offiicial' voice of Cruisecal. I like that we'll have some ports to ourself. There shouldn't be any sold out problems with the private tour companies.
cruiseky Posted August 26, 2005 #17 Share Posted August 26, 2005 This is going to be a great cruise! We are so excited that we will be flying in to Miami a few days early to get the fun started. We will be staying in South Beach. Does anyone have any exciting plans for Jamaica? This is our least favorite stop on this Itinerary. We have been there once and we climbed Dunns River Falls. This time we may just stay on the ship.
cpa2be Posted August 26, 2005 Author #18 Share Posted August 26, 2005 Troy - We haven't made plans yet. We've also climbed the falls, toured the island, etc. and wouldn't mind staying on the ship. However, since we are bringing our 2 sons (23 & 27) and their girlfriends along this time, I'm guessing they will want to climb the falls. We would do it again with them. We haven't been to Margaritaville, so that could be a stop, also.
