As pointed out on another thread somewhere (can't remember which) the cruise ship would have no time to "reprogram" the slot machines to pay either more or less from one day to the next. And, as a personal observation, the casinos are situated so that you have to pass through them to get from one area to another. Any "fiddling" with them to adjust payouts would certainly be noticed.

 

We left plenty of money on a certain ship playing the slots on one cruise, but then took home twice what we lost the next time.

 

Please note, however, that the cruise lines are not subject to US gaming regulations.

Personally, it has usually been the first couple days of my cruise. After that, the casino already has my money and I have nothing left to gamble with. :D

Its more the luck of the draw. My aunt won 800+ last week Wed while on the valor playing the quarter slots. I won $130 on the nickel slots that same night as well as on friday night 100+ (the garfield machine) Friends of mine played the same nights and won nothing

There tend to be more people playing the first and last night of a cruise so it might appear the slots are paying better, but it still boils down to luck. The wife and I both hit for $450 on different afternoons (not the first or last day) on different machines. Note that as Ladyputt stated the cruise lines are not subject to US gaming regulations, and thus the slots are tighter than in a land-based casino. To better your casino odds you might want to study up on Blackjack and try that instead of the slots.

My weekly casino trips have made me somewhat of an expert in the amounts of payoffs for a given hand or for the combinations on a slot machine.

 

Lady luck will determine the winners of consequence, not the time of day, the placement of the machine or what day it is that you gamble.

 

The payoff amounts on board cruise ships in plain English, are lousy, compared to ANY casino here in Vegas. We do play the slots, but only for amusement.

If you like crowds, the best time to gamble is during the evening. While there usually spaces at slot machines, it has been my experience that table games fill up very quickly ... especially low-limit blackjack. It's not uncommon to see each low-limit table full of 20-something guys with backwards ballcaps on a Carnival cruise... ;)
