Rare APDMOM Posted January 26, 2015 #76 Share Posted January 26, 2015 Thank you for this trip report! We saw Navigator in Jamaica and I was tempted to book it. When I found out it sails from Galveston, that was the end of the dream. However, when I checked options for next year's spring break, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it will be sailing from Fort Lauderdale next year, so WE ARE BOOKED! Rudyard Posted January 27, 2015 #77 Share Posted January 27, 2015 If I could do this itinerary from a different port I probably would. The fact that Texas is taxing the alcohol imports along with the other travel hassles makes it less appealing to me, but I'm sure locals have a different opinion. Most of us that are local don't like it either. We've finally hit the big time with four full time (three now but will be four in about three weeks) and two seasonal ships sailing from Galveston and Houston, and we don't want the state to screw that up by chasing people off. From what I've read though, it's not that much if you decide to pay. As someone else said, it's pretty much on the honor system. They asked me after my last cruise if I had any alcohol and I simply smiled and said "No" as I walked past them with a bottle of wine in my carry on. As for the fog, last year was the worst in years, but in the past it hasn't been nearly that bad. Remember, no one ever does a review where they mention leaving on time because there was no fog ;)
