Hi everyone,

I am trying to decide what to do on Grand Cayman. I am with a group and most likely the group is going to Rum point (and maybe a few other places) Myself, Husband and 2 friends are divers and thought we would dive on Grand Cayman. However recently the reviews have not been that great. Anyway my thoughts were maybe there is a way to dive from Rum point? that way we could meet up with the rest of the group for lunch and the afternoon at the beach.

I know red Sail is at Rum Point but I had heard they were Carnival's dive shop. Is this true? How is Red Sail? are there any good dives int eh vincinity of rum point? any and all info is appreciated!!

My other thought is we won't dive on Grand cayman (we are diving on Roatan and Cozumel on this trip)

I suggest that you check the redsail website Redsail.com where they list which cruise lines they contract with.

Are you looking for a shore dive or a boat dive. If it is a boat dive, then you might not be able to stay together as a group. I just don't see how you are going to mix a boat dive with staying with the group.

3 places for shore dives are

Eden Rock with gear/tanks available at both http://www.edenrockdive.com and http://www.abanksdivers.com.ky It is located just a couple of blocks to the right of where the tenders dock.

Sunset house hotel and bar with their on-site dive shop and shore dive is just a couple of blocks past Eden Rock. It will probably be less crowded here.

http://www.divetech.com has probably the best shore dive of these three, but you will need to take a taxi to get there.

Hi Bruce -r thanks for the reply. I don't want to "stay" with the group I just would like to be able to meet up with them afterwards or during surface intervals if possible. We have done this on other islands successfuly. Not sure it it would be at a ll possible at Rum point though.

Red Sail is not actually carnivals dive shop but three other lines. In fact Red sail really can't help us becasue they have set schedules that conflict with the time we will be in port.

at this point i think I am in need of some Grand Cayman personal dive operator referrals. Idealy i would like to get a 2 tank dive in during the AM and then be able to meet up with our friends afterwards. This could be difficult depending on which beahc they ultimately decide on (rum point is far from 7mile etc.)

I will do a search of the boards but recently the search function hasn't worked well for me.

I can recommend http://www.neptunesdivers.com from personal experience. Casey and Keith run a nice operations with a decent sized, 8 dive max boat. They let the divers pick the dive sites and will go to stingray city, weather permitting.
