janycels Posted August 30, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2005 I checked on an eariler question about when ships know what slip they will be assigned to at each port. It's the "luck of the draw" --when a ship arrives at the destination, they are given a slip, depending on what is available that day. In Venice, for instance, some ships get slips near St Mark's Square--but some cargo ships take up two slips. Small ships, like Oceania, may luck out because they are smaller. There is a port person working on the slips also. So, you really don't know until you arrive at the port which slip the ship will assigned to.
