Tours in Puntaneras

We are going to be in Puntaneras on Sept. 22. I have read on these boards that there are plenty of tour guides waiting at the pier. Has anyone taken one of these to either the Tarcoles River Cruise or the Manuel Antonio National Park? If so, how was it, and what was the cost? Also, has anyone rented a car in Puntaneras and driven to these sites? What was that experience like? Is it easy to get around? I would appreciate any info on these items. Thanks!

Do a search in this forum for Mauricio. We used his services in April and were more than

happy with the tour. Others have also enjoyed this young man's tours. He is also very

reasonably priced and gives full value. Can't help with car rental but the tour route is probably

better, since you will see more and Mauricio is very good at spotting animals and birds.

Charlie Soto is another guide who does a great tour. We went with him out of Puntarenas and was very pleased. We went to the Tarcoles River and saw gigantic crocodiles and went to a number of other interesting places. Charlie will tailor the tour to meet your needs. He speaks excellent English and is very quick to respond to emails: <okeydokeytours@hotmail.com>

Do not drive in Costa Rica the roads are very bad and if you get stuck you could miss the ship. Please think twice before driving there. I have several friends that have been there and if you are there for only the day take private transport.

Check over these sites and the map of where all the tours are. Stay close to the Highways whenever possible.
