eminence_front Posted September 3, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2005 We also booked airfare through Carnival. Will this be reimbursed to us as well? If so, will it be reimbursed at the same time with the cruise fare? Just curious. I was thinking perhaps that was the case, but I'm not sure.
Sablerose Posted September 3, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 3, 2005 Em, I'd imagine it's all going to be reimbursed if you aren't transferring to another cruise. We have already booked some excursions (Elation) and am guessing we'll get those refunded, although possibly separately.
jleq Posted September 3, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 3, 2005 It will. I'd be surprised if it wasn't done at the same time as your cruise fare
Bsan1221 Posted September 3, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 3, 2005 Am certain your airfare will be reimbursed to you. It may be done at the same time. Either way I'd call CCL next week and verify...
4yanx Posted September 3, 2005 #5 Share Posted September 3, 2005 You will be fine if you booked through Carnival. Ask THEM! As a side note, I booked four tickets to NOLA on 12/25 through AA and called today with respect to them. Theere would be a cancellation fee IF the airport is open to commercial traffic when were supposed to fly (full refund if not). I asked if AA would be willing to waive all fees if the fare were doanted directly to Red Cross, since they have a link to Red Cross on their site. The person told me they would look into this and get back to me. This is what I will do if they allow it. Other booked with other airlines interested in this may want to ask. SunFunCruiser Posted September 3, 2005 #6 Share Posted September 3, 2005 I think the airlines should step up to the plate and let people who's cruises were canceled change or cancel their flights for free if necessary.

jerseygirl3 Posted September 3, 2005 #8 Share Posted September 3, 2005 I agree, I think the airlines should waive those cancellation fees. Does anybody know if travel insurance is covering it? I would think so since the cruiseline cancelled the cruise and it was out of your control.
SunFunCruiser Posted September 6, 2005 #9 Share Posted September 6, 2005 I think the fee is waived if your travel dates are through 10/31 (so far). That's good for now, but these cruises were canceled for 6 months.
4yanx Posted September 6, 2005 #10 Share Posted September 6, 2005 Yes, but for the airlines, the issue is not that you booked the flight in order to take a cruise that was cancelled but, rather, the issue is whether the airport will be available to receive passengers. THAT date is unknown at this point. It is a problem for some wishing to make alternate plans.
TravelTalker Posted September 6, 2005 #11 Share Posted September 6, 2005 Is Carnival offering full cash refunds to those who've had their cruises changed or cancelled, or are they only offering credit on another cruise?
jerseygirl3 Posted September 6, 2005 #12 Share Posted September 6, 2005 I believe Carnival is offering a full cash refund for cancelled cruises.

texas greeneyes Posted September 6, 2005 #14 Share Posted September 6, 2005 We are sailing on the Conquest 11/20/05. My sister was able to change her flight, originally from Burbank CA to New Orleans, to a flight from Burbank to Houston, at absolutely no additional cost to her. American Airlines changed it for her readily, and she didn't even book through them directly, but through Expedia.

It must make a difference to whom you speak and the type of tickets originally purchased (I bought mine directly through the AA site). I was told by an AA representative about 10 minutes ago that they would only re-schedule flights to NOLA that were to be flown through 10/31 without charge. All others would be assessed a $100 PER TICKET fee for any changes (unless they were the much more expensive "guaranteed" flight tickets - perhaps what your sister had?). She went on to say that this date may extend further in time, depending on when NOLA airport is up and running for commercial flights. Makes it kinda hard to make other arrangements. Greeneyes, do you happen to know with whom your sister spoke? :)
