Other than the straw market the closest shopping is about 3 miles away. If you take a bus or taxi they will likely take you to the Port Lucaya Market which is very much like the shops found in other cruise ship ports but it is near a beach and casino. If you want something more local you can explain what you want to a taxi driver and have him take you around Freeport instead of the tourist areas.
