Can we walk to beach from.....

St George's Harbour? Tobacco Bay looks so close to the ship. Can we walk there or are the roads poor (like in St. Thomas - you'd get run over!)?

 

If we can't walk, can anyone recommend another beach in St. George's. How much would a taxi be?

You can walk to Tobacco Beach and the Fort St. Catherine's beach from the dock if you are in good shape as it is uphill. There are mini-vans near the dock that go back and forth to those beaches.

Its a long steep walk. If you rent scooters its a quick 5 min ride....and taxis are approx a 15-20 min wait which isnt all that bad. I wouldnt walk it but thats just me.....we had scooters.

Take the mini-bus service from St George ($2.50) one-way per person - ask at the visitor bureau

How about from Hamilton? Which is the best beach to go to from there? The nicest! Are you saying we have to wait 20 minutes to get a van from the dock? Also, do you vans "hang around" by the beaches later in the day so we can get back~~ Thanks for your help~ Lori

Was at horseshoe bay last week. Take a taxi from the ship $13 one way but if you share it with other people you share the fare.
