oceanqueen571 Posted September 11, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 11, 2005 Anyone just back that can tell me how the food has been? Thanks.
rjg41 Posted September 11, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2005 I am sure it is still great as on all Celebrity ships, IMO.
Normandie-BCN Posted September 11, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 11, 2005 Metropolitan Restaurant: wonderful service and food for dinner. For lunch the service could be quite bad or very bad (puting dishes in the middle of the table). Breakfast very limited. Olympic restaurant: excelent food. Service very elaborated but not of the quality of QE2 or Peter Deilmann's ships. Not worth paying when comparing with food and service in the Metropolitan on formal nights. Self-service: breakfast very good. No experience for lunch or dinner. On room: the same menu that in the Metropolitan brought together for dinner o lunch. Breakfast good, limited but enough. rjg41 Posted September 11, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 11, 2005 I think you will find much disagreement on whether the Olympic is worth it. We got to the specialy restaurant on any Millie class ship we are on. On our 14 day SA cruise we went twice.
SANDY BEACH Posted September 11, 2005 #5 Share Posted September 11, 2005 Our Olympic experience was outstanding. I would suggest you dine there once to make up your own mind. I don't think you will be disappointed.
Shystermom Posted September 14, 2005 #6 Share Posted September 14, 2005 Loved it. Do it once. The fawning is wonderful. Re: Metropolitan - great for dinner. Weird lunch choices (like squid and liver) Way too ambitious for lunch. Better to go up to Deck 10 and get a Turkey wrap or pastrami on rye. harrodsfan Posted September 18, 2005 #7 Share Posted September 18, 2005 We loved the Olympic and room service breakfasts. Buffet was the worst of any cruise we have been on..Dining room service was very slow and food not as good as Royal CArribean or Carnival IMHO. No good soups and salads were really weak. dmarch@islc.net Posted September 18, 2005 #8 Share Posted September 18, 2005 I would have to agree with Normandie-BCN on the Olympic restaurant. I didn't think it was worth it. The food is just so good at the Metro, paying more is kind of silly. But hey, to each his own. Give it a shot. I would suggest not getting the upgraded wine deal they offer. It's a different wine with every coarse. Switching from white to red, and dry to sweet, made my wife's (an avid wine drinker) stomach upset and she had to leave before her dessert. Cinnamon Seahorse Posted September 19, 2005 #9 Share Posted September 19, 2005 My Olympic experience in 2000 was phenomenal. Which is what made our experience last December particularly disappointing--the menu is very limited, the number of courses reduced, and the service less personal. While I appreciate "butterfly" service, I got a little tired of hearing "voila" every time a dome was lifted. Regardless of what we think is a serious decline in the experience, the Olympic seemed to be doing a good business. Carla
