Dress Code in Portofinos (AOS)

Jacket and tie is recommended for Portofino's. However, my only shirt and tie was my tux so... did not feel out of place dressed 'smart casual'. Felt even less out of place when some boorish lout showed up at the next table in T-shirt, shorts, sneakers and the wretched baseball cap on back to front. Two tables away sat the Captain and Chief Engineer, in uniform, with wives, and another couple. Seems a shame that old nautical traditions are allowed to die out. Walking the plank springs to mind....

We just ate at Portifino's on the Empress last week. We did not wear a jacket but dress pants and nice button down shirt. There were only about 3 men that had a jacket and they were all draped over the backs of their chairs, so I don't really see the point. Food was mediocre in my opinion. I got the Spagetti with 'Chunks of Lobster' and was lucky to find 3 small pieces of lobster in the dish. It was however a relaxing and enjoyable dinner.
