Jolimont Posted April 3, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 3, 2004 I guess I'm an odd woman because I've never set foot in a spa. My own sister tells me I'm insane, but I'm really not the "type". By that I mean I usually don't wear makeup, I keep my nails short and un-painted, I do my own pedicure and waxing, you know I'm a no frills typer person. I do have money, but if I went into a spa I wouldn't know what to get. So if I wanted to try it on my upcoming Diamond cruise, what should I try? CaptData Posted April 3, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 3, 2004 Go on the tour the first day and see what they do. Then try either a manicure or a massge. Neither take long and you won't be out a whole bunch if you do not like it. The manicure you can ask for clear polish only if you like. 10X Posted April 4, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 4, 2004 My wife also has never had spa treatments. Money isn't the issue either, since she certainly can find lots of that for jewelry. She just doesn't care about the services they offer. Like you, she doesn't wear makeup, long fingernails or polish, lipstick, etc. What you see is what you get with her, and I love it. Mrs_R Posted April 4, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 4, 2004 I don't wear makeup, etc., either, but I had a massage on the first morning of my last cruise and it was a great way to begin the week. I was so relaxed. It even got rid of my seasickness for the entire week (first time I wasn't seasick on a cruise). It's definitely a tradition for me now. You should be aware though, that part of a Spa employee's job is to sell products at the end of a treatment. So just be prepared-it caught me by surprize. -Donna QEII 1973 QEII 1974 NCCL Southward 1982 Sun Princess 2002 Golden Princess 2003 Until the Sun Princess 2004! PeabodyNVL Posted April 4, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 4, 2004 A Spa is do much ore than a "beauty salon", meaning that there are many more services than hair, make-up, nails, etc. I am also not a make wearing person. Nor do I "do" my hair. My hair stylist at home does coloring and cut. I don't do my nails. But, I love a good massage. Massages are therapeutic. Body wraps are relaxing. I also had a facial on the last cruise cuz I had free time and the price was right. Unlike a lot of other people, I have never had the Spa employees heavily trying to push products on me. They may mention something, I say "not interested" and that has always been the end of it.
