Something similar happened to me after we returned from our March '15 cruise. When we got home, I rec'd an email from Carnival with a "deal" to book a cruise so we would turn "red". It also quoted a strange VIFP # that wasn't ours. (yet names were correct in the email)....turns out, when I had filled in our Online Booking info the cruise, I had put my seldom used gmail address in the info - they treated it like a new person I guess. At least, that's what the rep explained to me when I called Carnival. It was also causing my # of cruise days to show incorrectly, not having counted the 14 day cruise we were on two months ago. Well, the rep had that fixed, now the # of days is correct....BUT I am still getting emails directed to someone with only one cruise under their belts....lol

Wow, reading this thread makes me appreciate that I don't care a hoot about these type perks - so I can just enjoy the cruise I paid for without sweating the small, insignificant stuff.

For those that do pursue these perks, best of luck.

Same thing happened to hubby 18 months ago. We were platinum, came home after a cruise with a "You are now red" email for my husband. Didn't have time to think much about it. Fast forward two months. Get the call from our PVP that hubby qualified for the pay $100, get $100 on board credit cruise. Booked for spring break on the Splendor. (Best cruise ever BTW). Mention to our PVP about the sudden red status. Well, that new VIFP # is the one that earned the free cruise! to encourage the "new" cruiser back onto a ship. PVP told us not to change back to Platinum until after final payment, so Carnival didn't decide to rescind the offer. She took care of straightening everything out after we made our final payment. Now, I am crossing my fingers to have another screw up in the hopes I can earn a free cruise. Thank you Carnival!!:D

Haha same here, but of course once I hit platinum/diamond I would care a bit more. As for now I don't mind.
