Well, not only are they not free, they don't really have a lot of food options available either. We traveled with an infant in our group one time, food at dinner was a bit of a challenge. Veggies and things were either too seasoned or to al dente to eat. depending on how much under two, you'll want to bring plenty of jarred food along!

 

Having traveled with kids that age (not my own) and my own when a little older, it's actually a lot of work. Fun, but a much different experience than most people around you will be having :)

Took 3 cruises with DD while she was under 2 (6, 9 & 15 mo) Definitely not free ;) Definitely worth the expense though. She was always a good eater and we got by on fruit plates and various other sides. And bread...tons of bread.

They won't be charged the customary gratuity under 2 but other than that, they are priced the same as anyone else.

Everyone is charged gratuity.

 

OP: there are some lines that have free deals for kids, but they always pay taxes, fees, and gratuities. Usually around $100-$300 for a 7 day cruise depending on the line. CCL does not have these deals, but anyone traveling as a 3rd or 4th passenger gets a reduced rate.

 

Agree about the food post above. We brought a bunch of those squeezable food packets-don't bring jars-too heavy. At the buffet we'd stock up on the few items our kids would eat (boxed cereal, fruit, crackers...that's about it.)

Everyone is charged gratuity.

 

 

Per the Carnival website:

 

For your convenience, we automatically charge the gratuities for dining and stateroom staff to your onboard Sail & Sign account.

Voyages departing October 9, 2014 onward; the total amount is $12.00 per guest, per day and breakdown as follows:

• Stateroom service team $3.90 per day

• Dining room service team $6.10 per day

• Alternative services team* $2.00 per day

(*galley, entertainment, guest services and other hotel staff members)

For Cruises-To-Nowhere; gratuities of $12.00 USD or its equivalent in foreign currency, per guest, per day must be prepaid.

As a convenience gratuities will be automatically posted to your Sail & Sign account on the second day of your cruise. Our Staff is totally committed to exceed your expectations in every way possible. If you are not satisfied with the service you receive, we encourage you to contact the Guest Services desk while onboard. This will allow us to address your concerns in a timely and appropriate fashion. Once gratuities have been posted, you may adjust them at your discretion at any time while onboard. Gratuities will be deemed undisputed unless a request to modify is received prior to disembarking the ship.

For beverage purchases, fifteen percent of the bill is automatically added to the Sail & Sign charge. Room Service staff may be tipped as service is rendered.

NOTE: BARBADOS CRUISES: All gratuities are pre-paid and automatically added during the booking process for Barbados itineraries.

 

*Gratuities do not apply to guests less than 2 years of age*
