honestguy Posted June 5, 2015 #26 Share Posted June 5, 2015 You'll have a good time, honestguy. Cruising solo is fun. You can do what you want when you want. Sounds like you got a great deal too. That always makes it more fun! Have a great cruise! yeah this whole divorce has thrown me for a loop, but I went and saw garth brooks by myself.(not because I couldn't get anyone to go, but because I found a single 9th row seat) had a great time. It just hit me today that I don't have to answer to anyone this cruise. I do what I want. I already have some great ideas. If it's nothing more than sitting on the ship and relaxing, it will be fun:)

I own my own business, but I worked in some sort of customer service for years, so meeting and talking to people isn't a problem, and I like my own company.:) Garth is amazing. I want to see him again before the tour wraps up!
foxesden1 Posted June 8, 2015 #29 Share Posted June 8, 2015 We got it, and took it. :) $75.00 p/p plus taxes. $150.00 on board credit. My DD was $299.00 plus taxes. So about $600 for 3 people, 11 day cruise. This is the first year I don't have a cruise booked, the last time was a weekend Inspiration Cruise, and we got the upsell fairy call, to the Owners Suite. Lenliner Posted June 8, 2015 #30 Share Posted June 8, 2015 I can't help but wonder if some of those "free", or almost "free" cruises were prepaid in the casino? 😖
VM_Mom Posted June 8, 2015 #31 Share Posted June 8, 2015 We got this offer- first time EVER to get one of these great offers! We rarely use the casino so probably not that :) We are looking at the 11 day Southern Caribbean but we both have to see if we can take that many consecutive days off work. If so we will be canceling our RCI cruise for the same time frame. I really hope we can make it work! We have never cruised an inside cabin so we may spring for the upgrade- still a great deal! loki805 Posted June 8, 2015 Author #32 Share Posted June 8, 2015 I don't think it has anything to do with the casino either. Weonly spent about $50 bucks there last trip.
pbmsmile Posted June 8, 2015 #33 Share Posted June 8, 2015 10 cruises and I have NEVER HAD AN OFFER...the whole thing is frustrating to those of us who sail a lot and are never the recipient of the offers Carnival gives out...

This was our first offer ever. Hope you get one soon.
honestguy Posted June 8, 2015 #35 Share Posted June 8, 2015 I can't help but wonder if some of those "free", or almost "free" cruises were prepaid in the casino? 😖 I spent a few hundred in the casino. 200-300 tops last cruise. I've only cruised carnival twice, and both times the shipboard account was over 1000. Almost all in drinks. The last cruise was a 5 day, and it was over 1400. over 1000 was drinks.:D I figure that is carnivals thinking, is get the people on board that we know spend $$$ on a long cruise. So many people are like my parents, their shipboard accounts are aways zero, hell last cruise carnival owed them a dollar, so it would make no sense for carnival to give them this offer. With me getting the offer, carnival knows I will spend plenty on board. I'm buying the drink package. that's 550 right there(sailing solo) I will eat in the steakhouse at least 2 times, drinking some premium wine, thats another 200 bucks, and I'm sure I'll do some gambling. foxesden1 Posted June 8, 2015 #36 Share Posted June 8, 2015 (edited) Not us. We are Red - 24 cruise nights (for me). I might spend a $100 tops in the Casino. BUT this is the first time in 5 years that we did not have a cruise on the books. And we are also on board spenders, any where from $1600 to $2800 in a week. Depending on what we are doing, buying etc. We did a private family photo shoot last spring (daughter only) . And last year we did 3 cruises, Jan (7), March (7 )and Sept (3) We plan on doing a private photo shoot again. The photos are fab, and well worth the price that we paid. cmukid87 Posted June 8, 2015 #37 Share Posted June 8, 2015 (edited) Holy crap! I have the same offer. 14 day on the Breeze for $415. I have a $200 certificate from Discover I can use and 2 $100 GC from Verizon @ 10% off. That would put me at $195 for a 14 day plus $150 OBC....OH MY!....TOO BAD IM OUT OF VACATION TIME!!!!!!!! cmukid87 Posted June 8, 2015 #38 Share Posted June 8, 2015 And to add on...I won about $400 in the casino in May, won about $200 in January. We spent about $400-$500 on each 7 day cruise, not including gratuities so we aren't that big of spenders.
Retired_to_Cruise Posted June 8, 2015 #39 Share Posted June 8, 2015 Rule of thumb seems to be if you have a cruise already booked you almost never see an offer that others without booked cruises will see. Absolutely not a true statement.

I guess we're more like your parents, which explains why we've never had an offer. It's prudent on CCL's part to entice folks who tend to be bigger spenders. Just look at the price range of CCL shares in the past year: 52wk Range: 33.11 - 49.21. Sitting at $47 today. Their strategy, which is not unlike Vegas Resort Casinos seems to be paying off! It's nice to be "compt", but it's almost always earned. 😖

I totally agree with honestguy, We spent over $5000 on the sail & sign on our last to cruises between the shops, shore tours, and drinks. So it only makes good business sense to take the chance that I will spend a lot again.
singbluesilver1 Posted June 11, 2015 #43 Share Posted June 11, 2015 I also got the offer and booked quickly . We're on a jan sailing of the pride from Baltimore ,11 days in the southern Caribbean. It cost us 360 total with 150 obc. I've never set foot in a casino on a cruise ship so that's not it. We did however purchase the drink package on our last cruise last year. We will purchase it again too a we thought it was a bargain We had no other cruises booked and this year are doing a resort trip to Mexico, leave in ten days in fact. So no idea how we got it but man I was happy. Oh and I've done three carnival cruises before

ZRC1MLC2 Posted June 11, 2015 #47 Share Posted June 11, 2015 The only thing ever in our VIFP is a 2 category upgrade. It has been that same offer for months now. I check it regularly but NOTHING!!! We are ready to cruise for free just anytime they want to throw that our way. We have thrown plenty of money their way and again, NOTHING!!! Last cruise we sat next to a couple at dinner that said they always get free offers. That is when we started really watching but no free or cheap cruises for us. We will cruise anyway but it sure would be nice to have a deal like that show up.
cassidyb Posted June 11, 2015 #48 Share Posted June 11, 2015 Got an offer in our regular mail yesterday.. Tossed it.. Thought about it. Logged into Carnivals website and the VIFP offer was there. Four cruises with Carnival.. Two balconies.. Two interiors.. Never booked an excursion through Carnival.. Never spent more than $50 in the casino. Our biggest expense has always been photos.. So I have NO CLUE as to the VIFP offer perimeters.. But a 10 day cruise for 2 for less than $400-SWEET!!!
