niu15 Posted September 16, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2005 I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about what hotel I should say in Miami. I was looking at staying in Miami Beach, South Beach, or Miami. I think I was looking into South Beach but I didn't know how far that was from the pier. I was wondering if anyone has been in any of the hotels in South Beach and how far they were away from the pier and if they were any good. Any information would help. Thanks
TrentS Posted September 16, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2005 South Beach is about 10 minutes from downtown Miami and the Port of Miami, but the decent hotels are a lot more expensive. Be very careful if you really want to stay IN South Beach as there are a lot of not so nice hotels in South Beach and many hotel that say they're in South Beach are really a long way from the real South Beach... kydale Posted September 17, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 17, 2005 We are staying at the Holiday Inn Bayside in November. We have stayed there several times. The best thing about is the price and it is right across the street from Bayside. We also stayed at Hotel Shelly on Collins between 8th and 9th. I don't know if I would recommend it. But they do have or had free booze between 6 and 10 pm and free breakfast. Neither one was much but free is free....After the cruise we are staying at Newport Beach resort. Using the Walmart travel sight three couples got a room for 84.00/nt/couple. Don't know much about it except it is way down the beach.
TrentS Posted September 17, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 17, 2005 Newport Resort is an older hotel in Sunny Isles Beach, here are some reviews... http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g34439-d85147-Reviews-Newport_Beachside_Hotel_and_Resort-Miami_Beach_Florida.html It's in a very nice area, but do know that there's major construction of a massive highrise condo right next door. It's also about 45-60 minutes from the port and airport, much longer during busy times. If you're not already, you may want to consider renting a car. VTSnorkler Posted September 18, 2005 #5 Share Posted September 18, 2005 Trent - please tell me you have all of that Miami hotel info saved in a word doc, or a .txt file and are just copying and pasting it. It seems you answer that same question twice daily. Does noone use the search functionality???
