Mexican currency

Unless you are doing major shopping, no need for local currency. Even if you could have gotten a better exchange rate, to much hassle and loss of VALUABLE VACATION TIME to change money. And what do you do with leftover foreign currency.

Your tour guide will definitely prefer US Money.

Skip the currency exchange. At least you will know exactly how much you spent. And have a blast!

Tip the tour guides in US$, use US$ for small purchases, but please don't expect to get US$ change when you buy things in small stores! Or at least ask before paying whether they can make change for you in US$.

I live in Canada, and have witnessed weird scenes with Americans having tantrums when the local coffee shop tries to explain that, yes, they will as a courtesy accept US$, but no, they don't HAVE change in US$ so CN$ will have to do... obviously you are too clued in to do such a thing, but just thought I'd mention the getting-change problem.
