We are going to be in st Martin on the carnival sunshine in a few weeks and wanted to visit maho beach. I was wondering how often the planes come because we probably aren't going to spend a lot of time there. If anyone has an plane schedule that would be awesome. Also if anyone would like to share what there experiences at maho were like I would love to hear them!

On Wednesday, July 15th, Air France is flying a huge Airbus A340 into St. Maarten, due at 2:00 PM.

Note that these flights regularly arrive MUCH earlier than scheduled.

To get a general feel for what flights are usually scheduled, see my recent post to mividajp about using Joyce's website. There are other sites that do the same, as well.

Note that I have missed the big planes landing when they arrived 50 minutes before their scheduled time.

If you really want to see it, I would suggest getting there WELL before 2:00. I'd probably be there before 1:00, but of course it depends on what else you have planned for the day.

There are two beach bar/restaurants right on Maho, Sunset Bar and Grill and Guy's Driftwood Boat Bar.

The next beach over, 20 minute walk, Mullet Bay Beach, is one of our favorites for spending some simple beach time, with two bar/snack shacks offering good food and chair/umbrella rentals (toilet facility is a Porta-Potty, though).

Between the two is Maho Village:

There's A LOT to do around Maho Beach besides watch the planes and patronize the two bars directly on the beach.

Maho Village is a happening place. The southern end of the complex is at the roundabout identified in this shot.

Besides the resorts, there is the largest casino on the island.

There are several dozen restaurants and shops, from high-end dining to a Subway or Gelato. Shops from simple souvenir stores to Italian Fashion and Haute Couture. A spa, hair salon and pharmacy are there. Even a small grocery store/market.
