blueseas Posted September 18, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2005 Forgot to ask? How is Cozumel in regard to storm damage? All back to normal right now?
CozSally Posted September 18, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 18, 2005 All back to normal with the exception of about half the road along the other (east) side of the island. That is still a project under construction. Also Nachi Cocom is still closed as far as I know as well as the Reef Club Hotel, I believe.
AIMS312 Posted September 19, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 19, 2005 I meant to ask when we were there last Friday, but does anyone know how far we can go around the back side of the island? We'll be back next month and wanted to rent a jeep and ride around to all the beaches, and a few out of the way spots on the back side of the island. How about completion time? Anyone have an estimate? Thanks, Aims
solita Posted September 19, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 19, 2005 From the south, it is still closed at Rasta´s. From the north, it is open as far as Coconuts. No word on when it will be reopened for sure.
Cozumel_Tom Posted September 20, 2005 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2005 UPDATE: The road on the east side now is open up to Playa Bonita. The Missus and I had lunch at Coconuts yesterday, it's looking good! Cuco wants everybody to bring T-Shirts to replace the ones lost to Emily! I had the fishburger...yum... and Margarita had the shrimp quesadillas...yum yum. Cost about 13 GRAND (YIKES!) to replace the palapa roof so I ordered some ceviche as well to help out LOL! Reef Club actually opened a while ago, it's the other 3 southern hotels that are still closed. P.S.- Coconuts still has the "family albums", the hurricane spared them! ;)
smrtypnts Posted September 20, 2005 #6 Share Posted September 20, 2005 Cost about 13 GRAND (YIKES!) to replace the palapa roof so I ordered some ceviche as well to help out LOL! Does this mean that neither insurance nor government help with these type of costs? Does this mean that the owner has to handle all of these expenses? Cozumel_Tom Posted September 20, 2005 #7 Share Posted September 20, 2005 I seem to remember the gov. putting forth some loans to small businesses, but the details escape me. They're also giving big discounts off the fines for late property tax payments...they need to build up their coffers! The beer companies have helped out many bar owners though, obviously in their best interests to do so...:)
YoureMoving Posted September 23, 2005 #8 Share Posted September 23, 2005 Hi Tom; Are most places able to take credit cards at this point? We're mainly concerned about shopping in San Miguel and eats and drinks at PB. Will we need to bring cash with us, or is plastic gonna work?
