COLGATE Posted July 31, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 31, 2015 We are cruising on Princess from Southampton to the US beginning 9/6 but our package has us first in Berlin for 2 days. Any suggestions as to tours - 1/2 or full day in Berlin would be much appreciated as it's our first time there. Many thanks in advance!!:)
GradUT Posted July 31, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 31, 2015 If you don't have mobility issues, I would recommend the Original Berlin Walks. Their "overview" walk lasts 3.5 - 4 hours and they also offer more specialized tours which you might enjoy. http://www.berlinwalks.de/public/
firststeps Posted August 15, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 15, 2015 We returned from our trip about a week ago and had a FANTASTIC guide in Berlin. We are 4 adults who travel together and use private guides extensively. Jeremy Minsberg was one of our all time FAVORITES. He is knowledgeable, funny, kind, etc. He is originally from the US but has lived in Berlin for many years. Jeremy knew the places to take us, the stories and the history... boy did he know his stuff. By the way.. the set up at CHECK POINT CHARLIE is not the actual site. You won't learn that from most other guides. He made the experience come alive... not always easy but truly impactful. We packed a lot into our one-day tour with him. You can check out lots of reviews about him on TripAdvisor. He goes by "TheBerlinExpert". You can reach him at: theberlinexpert@gmail.com You simply cannot go wrong if you are lucky enough to book Jeremy. He will definitely make your trip to Berlin memorable. honeylaw Posted July 26, 2016 #4 Share Posted July 26, 2016 We were part of a six person group that hired Jeremy Minsberg for a private tour of Berlin in June 2016 that included a private driver from port round trip. The six of us got together through Roll Call and it worked out great. Because of the long drive between the port and Berlin, I recommend a private driver who can go fast, rather than a slow bus tour. That will maximize your time in the city. Also, with a small group you can move around faster and are more able to customize the tour. Instead of spending time in a restaurant, Jeremy took us to the new Berlin train station to view the architecture and get sandwiches that we ate in a park. We also saw the Olympic Stadium and many many other sites. Jeremy is full of information that he augments with historical pictures and videos he shows on his ipad. It was neat to see videos of military parades on the street we were driving down, or a picture of Hitler giving his address at the Olympics from the very stage where we were standing. I highly recommend Jeremy.
