Port Everglades to car rental in Miami

Looking for advice on this.

We get off the cruise in Port Everglades. Our Flight is from Miami at 7pm. We were thinking of taking a shuttle from port everglades to a miami car rental place so we could find something to do on our own for the day, then head back to car rental place and have them shuttle us to MIA.

 

Does anyone know what would be the best car rental place in Miami to do this?

 

I already checked getting a car at the port but it was costly to return to Miami.

 

Open to other suggestions.

Rent the car from Fort Lauderdale airport, 10 minutes away from the port and most rental companies provide free shuttle service from the pier. Most car rental companies will let you pick up from FLL and drop off at Miami with additional fees. Just verify when you make your reservation.

Thanks Willyt- i have already looked into that and too costly so thinking it may be cheaper to rent and return in Miami. Anyone else have suggestions?

What is your pick-up date?

 

I could research some options, but need to know your pick-up date as rates vary from company to company depending on the supply of cars they have on a particular date.
