I wonder why ORIANA was chosen to be abused first. QM2 will be there soon, while Carnival Line ships stay in Manhattan (as there is one today). Go figure.

I think a berth was not available until 1pm on the westside piers today - 5 ships in - and as its mainly a transit stop, probably relatively easy to handle. It will be interesting watching the sail away - looks like Oriana is going to head straight out to sea - none of this 'around Governors Island for a view of Lower Manhattan the Princess exec talked about.....

Well the way I look at it is this. Sure docking in midtown Manhattan is nice. But I go for the ship not the dock...

I'm not looking forward to QM2's docking in Brooklyn this spring. In fact, I rather dread it. Makes me want to just get out of here (New York) now while I can still leave from Manhattan. Maybe I will. However I'm rather afraid of bad weather in November.
