What's eveyone doing in PV & Cabo?

Just wondering what eveyone is doing in PV & Cabo? Sailing April 24th on the Diamond. In Mazatlan we are doing Stone Island by ourselves, no tour. We would like some suggestions. We like to lounge on the beach and then back to the ship for more lounging. We are sailing with another couple, and we are in charge of planning the day trips. We are all very easy to please, a clean beach with plenty of sun.

Last year when we cruised Mexico, In PV we went and toured the home that Liz Taylor and Richard Burton shared while filming the movie Night of the Eguania (sp) it is located up on a hill behind the old church all the way at the end of the boardwalk. The owners only charge 5.00 pretty good deal..

We went there a couple of years ago and I can tell you what not to do...don't take the tours that take you around town and show you sites. It is just like anywhere else that you've probably already been to. There is a woman that will send you a document on things to do in PV. It's on another board that I can't find right now. I'll send it when I find it. In the mean time you should check out the Port of Call boards on this site.

we were in Cabo mid Feb. - we walked into town, toured the shops and ate lunch at the Shrimp Factory (Good fresh shrimp). Wish we would've booked the whale watching tour as the folks there saw some. BTW, we heard that some folks on the rafting type boats to lovers beach got seasick in the little blow-up type raft as the waters were choppy.

If you want to lounge, in Puerto Vallarta there is a place called Krystal Hotel. It is a 10 minute walk from the pier. You have to pay a day pass (it was $6 the last time I was there) but they have three or four beautiful pools, swim up bars and food and drink. There is also access to the beach, but its a little dirty there compared to the pool area.

 

Depending on your prediliction, there's another beach further into town...but that's a whole different story...

We loved the Las Caletas tour in PV. Ask if it's jellyfish season, however. Even so, the beach was nice, kayaking was fun, buffet was good and the margaritas were plentiful. The boat ride (about 45 minutes each way) was very nice with refreshmets onboard. Enjoy your cruise.

In PV, we did the Las Caletas tour and really enjoyed it. Great massages at great prices, beautiful beach (although there were jellyfish last year but didn't stop us from kayaking and otherwise enjoying idyllic setting). There are fabulous places to sit,lie and relax on the cliffs overlooking the water with the most wonderful hammocks. Plenty available. Jellyfish are a day by day thing anywhere in that area. This year we did the Marietas Islands eco-tour--loved that even more than Las Caletas which we thought was great. Great tour operator (Giavanny), kayaked and snorkeled, saw rare birds on the islands from the boat that only can be seen in Galapagos and PV, ate a great lunch onboard, then went to a private beach that was gorgeous and fun. Both excursions are available through Princess (not too much cheaper on the internet if available) and operated through Puerto Vallarta Adventures. Both are a good bet! In cabo, lasat year we took a kayaking/snorkel excursion through Baja Wild (non Princess excursion) which was better than the trip offered through the ship. THey took us to the three bay/Santa Maria area which was gorgeous. The one on the ship only takes you to Los Arcos near where the ship is docked, but there are too many boat/ships in area that can make the area a little dicey and too much waves. ALthough beaches are beautiful there, too, they are very rocky and usually crowded. The place they took us was remote but beautiful--when we kayaked in they had drinks and beach chairs sitting out for us. You can see the Los arcos area from the ship so you will not miss out on those sights, which are spectacular.

I'd like to recommend Las Caletas in Puerto Vallarta. We have been there twice and enjoyed it very much. The crew was very attentive, well groomed and very polite. Most all the activities are included as is all food and drink. Massages and scuba were at an additional charge.
