naroc Posted September 28, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2005 We are booked on this 35 day cruise and just found out they have eliminated the stop at Sharm el-sheik. They are substituting an additional day at sea. We are hopeful they will re do the itinerary as they did for the 11/5 Regatta and add an additional stop such as an extra day in Cairo. Are there others on this cruise who feel the same?
ricktalcott Posted October 1, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2005 I must have missed the elimination of Sharm el Sheikh. Damn, slept right through it. I would love to trade for an extra day in Cairo. My impression was that I wanted 2 days in Cairo all along. One day for the Pyramids and one day for the museum and old Cairo. DW also suggested staying over in Petra, which is the immediately preceeding port. That shouldn't throw the schedule too much out of whack. threeedogmedia Posted October 3, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 3, 2005 Does anyone know why they dropped the port in Egypt? Was it because of the recent bombings? I would vote for another day in Cairo. Hopefully there won't be any other changes on this trip of a lifetime!
Rickey 88 Posted October 5, 2005 #4 Share Posted October 5, 2005 Of course it was cancelled due to the bombings and other unrest! You should always check the DOS site for travellers warnings. zorro Posted October 8, 2005 #5 Share Posted October 8, 2005 An extra day in Cairo would be great! Unfortunately this may not be the only deviation from the trip. We still have six months to go. But better to think positively. Zorro
