Airport Hotel

I've been doing some searches, but there is so much info out there it's pretty overwhelming so thanks in advance for any info you can give me (and your patience)

 

We are taking the Adventure of the Seas on Sat. Jan. 30th. I understand we leave from the Pan American Pier.

 

Since we are flying in about midnight on the Thursday night, we are considering staying at the hotel right at the airport for 2 nights. Does this seem like a good idea, considering we will likely be relaxing on Friday morning with a bit of sightseeing in the afternoon?

Or would you suggest doing a very late check-in at a hotel in the Old San Juan district or some place near the pier?

Hotels listed in the "Isla Verde" area are the ones near the airport. If you just want to relax on the beach or at the pool, these will work fine. I suggest checking Hotwire and checking on the tab that lists the hotel so you get an idea what's available.

If you decide to go sightseeing in Old San Juan (which I very highly recommend), it's extremely easy to get a cab from your hotel, and easy to find one to get back also. There is also a bus if you want to be more frugal.
