fendbass Posted January 2, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 2, 2016 We have been to the Big Island (I assume that is what you are referring to) several times, and I doubt if you will find a Tour Operator to go down there. First, the beach is located in the area of South Point, which I found to be very interesting, but is not a real hot tourist destination. We rented a car and drove down there Once you are there, it is a walk of 2 miles or more in very windy conditions. There is no road there. Even air tours won't fly over that way. The beach is at the bottom of a very steep embankment, and you would have to climb back up eventually, followed by that long walk, maybe into the wind If you are fairly fit, I guess it could be done, but, it was just not that important to me to go through all of that. There are boat tours that will go close to the lava flowing into the ocean, maybe one of them will go down that way Here are a couple of relevant web sites http://www.greensandbeachhawaii.com/ http://www.bigislandhikes.com/papakolea-green-sand-beach/
coyboy1971 Posted January 2, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 2, 2016 Fendbass is spot on. You can often get a local to drive you down and back once you get to the last road down to the green sand beach in a big 4x4 for about $15 round trip. It's a very unique geological feature, but not really a beach to swim due to the wind and strong currents. One of the private tour operators on the island like Wasabi Big Island might be able to put together a private/custom tour for you.
