Elation??

Recommended Posts

I am looking at traveling on Carnival next summer and found a trip on the Elation that is exactly the itinary (eastern car.) and port of call(miami) that I am looking for, not to mention a reasonable price. Since this will be our first cruise what do you think of this ship? is it worth it or is it too old and worn down.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

We were on in about a month ago. It was still in Galveston then. I have been only on 2 Carnival boats. Elation is a beautiful boat and does not look worn to me.

We have sailed her twice before and found her to be a great ship. Have two cruises booked on her in the next four months, and even though she is 7 years old she is still in great condition. Enjoy!

Hola,

We are booked for our third trip in a row on her. On our first trip, our stop in Belize was canceled because of weather. I wanted to go cavetubing so we booked it again last year. This year we were to sail on the Grandeur of the Seas out of NOLA. RCCL wouldn't commit to any moves after Katrina so I canceled and rebooked for the Ecstasy. Now the Elation is taking the Ecstasys itinerary. At least I will know where everything is on the ship and have no regrets. She is alright for an older ship and besides, I can have fun at a wake.:D

Sorry, I did not like the Elation at all. I shouldn't say at all...the crew for the most part was excellent, however, our room steward was awful. 2 nights our room did not even get serviced! The public bathrooms were not very clean (the bowls were stained) and room service trays would sit out in the hallways forever before being picked up. We went cave tubing in Belize and LOVED it, but that was the only excursion that we took that was worth the money that they cost. I would definitely not recommend the Elation at all. I am not even sure if I will ever cruise with Carnival again.

I'm sorry, but comments like that make me laugh. Seven is NOT that old:p I think the ships are built to last for many years. I like to think of them as just getting broken in;) :D

I just got off the Elation Monday and I can assure you it is in no way old, or worn out. I found it very beautiful. If there were water stains I didn't notice them. Guess if you look close enough you can find something wrong anywhere you are.

Yeah 7 years is hardly ancient.

Sorry but I tend to prefer the so-called "older ships". Why? Size!! Anything over about 60,000 tons and 2,000 people is just too big and crowded. I would go ga-ga if the cruise lines would produce some new ships in the medium-size range, but I guess for now they are sticking with the "bigger is better" philosophy.

I just got back from the Celebration, and many consider her to be down right ancient. But I enjoyed it immensely.

I guess I compared our AWFUL cruise on the Elation with our AWESOME cruise on Disney. Disney was spotless, and our experience with the Elation was it did not measure up to my expectations. Also I did not like the smoking situation...I am not a smoker therefore my time in the casino was very limited due to the neverending clouds of smoke!
