Relax on the Spanish. They will speak English there. Try Hoilay Inn Bayside. It is right across from Bayside Market Place where you can buy food (various restuants are there). Taxi from MIA to hotel approx $25.00 + tip. Taxi to pier from hotel which is about 1/2 mile is $6-8. Ask for a View of the water and see your ship in the morning.

CaptData, I think I read somewhere that you can actually walk from this hotel to the pier? I know you personally wouldn't walk it (MS if I remember correctly) but do you think it's walkable?

Still trying to decide if we should stay by the airport or the pier.

thanks :)

Oh please, relax... You may hear Spanish everywhere you go in Miami, but for the most part everyone also speaks English. And everyone at the hotels, shops, restaurants, etc. speak English! You won't have any problems.

ANY hotel will get you a taxi, the larger ones have them waiting right out front. You do NOT want to attempt to walk to the port. It's not set up for pedestrians and would be very dangerous, not to mention quite difficult with luggage. It's a very short, inexpensive cab ride from any of the downtown Miami hotels.
