What is the "hump" cruisers are talking about on Voyager of the Seas?

Considering a cruise Western Carribean Feb. 11 with husband and 17 year old.

 

I'm relatively new to the message boards. What is the "hump" people are talking about on Voyager of the Seas?

 

I need to book an outside cabin with balcony midship, if possible -- considering a suite as well. Where is the "hump"? Is this a good or bad thing?

 

Any recommendations for a great balcony or suite cabin, with placement not directly on top of a deck which has the pool, entertainment, restaurant (noisy) and not near an elevator or staircase?

 

Come on, RCCL veterans, I need your help! Thanks so much!

 

P.S. If cruise is Feb. 11 for one week, and Feb. 18 (following week) begins President's holiday, what are the chances that there will be 17 and 18 year old teens on this cruise the week before a major holiday? Our school gives time the week of Feb. 11 and we are hoping that there will be older teens on board. What are your experiences with that? Thanks.

The "Hump" is the bulge outward on the sides at midship. "Hump" cabins are coveted along with aft cabins. They generally have larger than advertised balcony's.

Click on this link and scroll down to where the ship bows out on both sides. The middle of the hump is prime cabins in my opinion.

deck 10 is the highest in passenger cabins the pool and windjammer is on deck 11. we had a grand suite 1568 on the 10th floor and found it to quite except every once in a while you would hear lounge chairs being dragged on the tile in the solarium pool area but it wasn't lound or annoying. It actually it took us a few days to figure out what the noise was.

Oops! Made a mistake....We're going on the Explorer of the Seas, not the Voyager. Sorry for any confusion. Not sure if it makes a lot of difference in the placement of the cabins.

The decks layout is the same on the Voyager.

Yes, cabins 8310 - 8328 and cabins 8612 - 8628 are the E1 hump cabins. The two middle ones on either side of the ship are 8318 and 8320 on one side, and 8618 and 8620 on the other side. I consider them the best if you want total privacy and a great view.

On these ships the more expensive cabins are on deck 9.

On Deck 7 you will have the E1 and E2 on the hump.

Deck 9 - 9318 is a Junior Suite. 9618 on the port side is too. They are center hump, and we have stayed in 9318 two years in a row on Adventure of the Seas. Wouldn't even consider any other location.
