Beach SCUBA on Cozumel

Has anyone ever done any beach diving on Cozumel? My wife has been certified since the 70's but now doesn't want to dive from a boat. We dove on Maui a few months ago and had a super time just diving off beaches from Wailea to Kaanapali. She likes the no drift, no current, no sea sick feelings, depth of no more than 50 feet, and other things that make beach diving nice. We recognize that visibility is less and there is usually less to see from most beaches. We just would like a simple dive opportunity in port where she can sit out on the beach when she has had enough. Any suggestions, commments, experiences, or information on dive outfits will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Contact these guys http://www.scubashackcozumel.com/We've been doing business with their downtown shop for better than 10 years and never dive with anyone else when we come to Cozumel. We used the beach location a few years back, as I recall they have a nice shallow sandy teaching area and pretty good access to shallow reef. Its a bit south of San Miguel maybe 10 - 15 minutes by taxi. Remember beach and Cozumel are almost mutually exclusive terms. Its a shame your wife will not get on a boat. The drift diving is wonderful. Have a good time.

The shore dive at the Caribe Blue hotel is one of the better shore dives on the island. The on-site dive operator, Blue Angel will rent tanks/weights. I do have to say, the shore diving on Cozumel isn't nearly as good as the boat diving. Even from shore, you are likely to encounter at least a slight current, which means you will be finning into it for at least half the dive. Diving from a boat means just drifting with the current until the dive ends and the boat picks you up.
