Rare aubreyc1988 Posted January 28, 2016 Author #26 Share Posted January 28, 2016 I'm sorry what? No Oreo cookie cheesecake anymore? I'm absolutely gutted!! That was the best ever dessert I've had. Can't believe it's gone. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I did not see it on the menu BOTH nights so I guess it has went to be with the much loved, but not forgotten Mozz sticks and chicken fingers at O' Sheehan's :(
UKLloyd Posted January 28, 2016 #27 Share Posted January 28, 2016 Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I did not see it on the menu BOTH nights so I guess it has went to be with the much loved, but not forgotten Mozz sticks and chicken fingers at O' Sheehan's :( Oh I forgot the mozzarella sticks have gone as well. When on the getaway I would often walk past o'sheehans stuffed but think, hmmmmmm, room for mozzarella sticks and order some. Lol. Love them things. However, not as much as the Oreo cheesecake. Can you not get it at the bake shop or anywhere else? I've got to break this news to my girlfriend, she will not be pleased. Lol. Your review is great. Thanks for posting it. I didn't see Oreo cheesecake anywhere else, although I saw an Oreo cupcake at the Atrium that did look tasty. They did have cheesecake almost everyday in the buffet and quite honestly, it was pretty good. Wasn't as good as Cagney's Oreo of course, but had good flavor and the right TEXTURE, which is always key. I actually wasn't too fond of any of the Specialty Restaurant desserts I got, but loved everything I got in the buffet!
Robbinsa87 Posted January 28, 2016 #29 Share Posted January 28, 2016 We had a round of Patron shots... LOVING your review! Is patron included in the UBP or is this considered one of the ultra premium brands that you have to pay extra on? Thanks!!

Rare aubreyc1988 Posted January 29, 2016 Author #31 Share Posted January 29, 2016 (edited) FOOD Next specialty restaurant I will review is LeBistro! We have done LeBistro on every NCL cruise and it’s always GOOD. I have gotten the pork with creamy sauce and apples, but that was taken off the menu and this time I did not see anything that I really wanted so I got a filet again. It was good, not as good as Cagney’s. The potato side dish was hard and just not really appetizing to me. My husband got the lobster tail. I do not eat seafood typically. He was surprised at it being so saucy. He said it was good, but the look of the actual lobster tail was kinda creepy, in my opinion. My dessert I got was this version of an apple crisp, which tasted like a pear, not like an apple. See the gold flecks on top??? Fancy, eh? Definitely not the best dessert on the cruise. The ice-cream was good though. We of course finished our meal with some french press coffee, which surprisingly is my FAVORITE thing from LeBistro - if we hadn’t been pressed for time to make it to a show, I would have drank a lot more of it. SO yummy - if you love coffee, definitely take the time to try LeBistro’s french press. In my opinion, LeBistro simply isn’t “French” enough for me. We ate at this place in St. Maarten once that was french and the menu looked great, but LeBistro's looks nothing like it. Maybe LeBistro IS really "French" and I probably have no idea what I am talking about. I don't really consider myself a foodie, so try not to take what I say too literally :D The menu to me is like seafood with a bit of “Cagney’s” and not enough dishes that I actually wanted to try. If you like seafood, this definitely is the one for you. I wish they would bring back a good pork option, or maybe a beef wellington. I think on our next cruise we might skip it and do Cagney’s more or give La Cucina a try. Side note: What a terrible place for the restaurant as well - smokey from the casino above and the pretty noisy due to casino and headliners right across from it. Not a huge deal for us, but really should be a different place for this restaurant. Edited January 29, 2016 by aubreyc1988
Blazen Posted January 29, 2016 #32 Share Posted January 29, 2016 Could the people coming in late for the shows be coming from the kids club? You can't drop kids off at the club until 7pm and that is when the shows start. I don't understand why NCL schedules it this way. Do the shows start right at 7pm? Greg There are typically two shows, one at 7 and one at 9. I still hold to my personal belief that if a show starts at 7, at the very least, any late comers can quietly sit in the back. There was plenty of seating in the back where you could quietly slip in, and actually a long table in front of the bar where you could sit and watch the show in the back. I know some people are not disturbed by people coming in late, and everyone is entitled to their opinion, mine is that NCL should shut the doors and have a sign that says something to effect "show in progress" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rare aubreyc1988 Posted January 29, 2016 Author #34 Share Posted January 29, 2016 FOOD Teppanyaki up next! On my first NCL cruise on the Getaway in 2014, we tried Teppanyaki, but it was after a long day at port and I wasn’t feeling well during the dinner, so I left early and didn’t get to really enjoy it. This time, however, I made sure to schedule it on a sea day and be well rested so that I could really enjoy it. It did not disappoint. Our chef was very good and friendly, had some great food. My favorite was the Udon noodles - they were tossed in a light sweet sauce and were very good. We skipped dessert, as the green tea cake and ice-cream and fruit really were not sounding good. Overall, a very good experience here. I don’t know if I will do it for a while again when sailing NCL, but it’s a fun restaurant to try. Food Republic Out of all the À la carte restaurants NOT in the SDP, this is the one I chose to pay for. I didn't try Bayamo or Tapas Bar. Food was good, but was just average in my opinion. But we liked the look of the restaurant and the service was great. The restaurant was never really busy. I think they would do much better in these restaurants if they made them a cover charge. We only ordered 3 things and our bill was around 30.00. I ordered a specialty drink, which they tell you not to order on the iPad if you have UBP. I can't remember the name, but the martini I got was pink and it tasted good at first, but had a very strange aftertaste. Anyhow, pictures speak louder than words they say, so here you go! Dragon Roll, or what's left of it My husband said it was good. The iPad ordering was pretty smooth and ingenious. It was easy to use.
Rare aubreyc1988 Posted January 29, 2016 Author #35 Share Posted January 29, 2016 Food Republic Continued... my favorite thing I got were the pork potstickers - I could have eaten WAY more than what they gave me Then I got these teriyaki chicken kabobs that had overwhelming flavors - it was much too ginger-y for me, but maybe that's just my personal preference - they definitely had a LOT of punch. Overall, I think Food Republic would be better utilized as a cover charge venue. If you go, try to go with a lot of people so you can get a lot of different dishes and try a variety of things. We only went as a couple, so we only ordered 3 things, so maybe the other dishes were really amazing? I didn't want to rack up a 50.00 bill so I didn't order any desserts.
