Shaken_Bake Posted January 27, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2016 What is the experience like to embark on a cruise that already has passengers on a cruise in progress? We’ll be on Harmony, West Med cruise, embarking in Civitavecchia on October 6. However, on our Roll Call, I learned that there will be passengers who embarked in Barcelona on October 2, and we’ll pick up a different contingent when we dock in Barcelona on October 9 before the end of “our” cruise. Does the mid-cruise rotation of embarking and disembarking passengers have an impact to any aspect of the trip? Will the disembarking passengers in Barcelona be given priority, so that continuing passengers have to wait to get off for their port activities? What else might be different (better or worse) about this scenario? Thanks!
sarahleebones Posted January 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) My dad did it on the Liberty last year and said is was a BREEZE! WAY less people. I was on the Liberty from BCN a few months after him. I did not notice a thing....and either did he. Sea_Salt_Sailor Posted January 27, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2016 You will not noticed... Your seapass card will have a different color. When dock in BCN for everyone that embarked in Civi is a normal day... Just FYI the starting point of the cruise is BCN-BCN so cruise day 1 is BCN. I did... Civi - BCN (b2b) on the Allure last summer...
Fredrik Posted January 27, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 27, 2016 We've experienced it twice and never again. Everything that is so great about cruising is taken away with interporting. We had three embarkation points so it's a constent entering and leaving, aka luggage out in the hallways, new people running around confused etc. I felt sorry for the cruise director and staff. It's like welcome aboard and good bye to you at the same time. One aspect of crusing I really enjoy is the journey and getting to know people. When running into someone you're not sure if they are coming or going. I know that MSC and some of these other lines started doing this and RCI followed but it's a terrible idea and I'm making sure not to book interporting ever again.
