Hotel Montecarlo in Barcelona?

Recommended Posts

I have read lots of threads on hotels in Barcelona with many opinions.

I booked a standard (Poblenou) room at the Montecarlo. They wanted 40e

more for the upgrade to a Sants w/jacuzzi and another 35e to upgrade with an even larger room w/possible balcony and jacuzzi.

Anyone stay in the standard room? Rate was 155e so I'm trying to decide if it is even worth it or if I should look elsewhere. I have plenty of time...cruise is 10/06.

Hi martyap

We stayed last week in the hotel monte carlo for one day post cruise.

We had a Gracia room that had a jacuzzi tub and balcony. It overlooked la rambla.

We booked it for 189 E directly from the hotel web site. The Hotel is beautiful

and we highly recommend it. When you check in the porter will help you with

your bags and they will hold them in the lobby for you until your room is ready.

They provide free internet access in the lobby. Bathrooms in the lobby were immaculate. The Gracia room was a bonus because there was an extra seating

area in addition to the bedroom. It was more than we needed for one night

but the extra space when traveling with a lot of luggage is great. The location

on La Rambla is directly accross from Le Meridien hotel. The staff at the reception desk were english speaking and Very helpful with touring and restaurant tips. We were within walking distance of shops , restaurants

and access to the hop on hop off bus. For the money it is a good bet in

barcelona. We walked over to Le Meridien, it was very nice but probably

twice the price. We also walked past and into the lobby of hotel majestic

and thought it looked nice. Hope that helps!
