yogi Posted February 3, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2016 We have a late flight out of Vancouver after cruise {9:45pm}. Any ideas for luggage so that we could enjoy the day? Thanks
yogi Posted February 3, 2016 Author #2 Share Posted February 3, 2016 OK Just read that the Pan Pacific hotel will store your bags for a fee Anyone ever done this????
xlxo Posted February 3, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 3, 2016 When you pass customs, look for CDS/Priority Baggage (next to car rentals). For $40, they will transfer your luggage (max 4 bags) to the airport location for afternoon/evening pickup.
Rare martincath Posted February 3, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 3, 2016 I second the above. Unfortunately the luggage storage at the pier closes early - 4:30pm - so using a hotel or sending it on to the airport are the only two viable options. The big advantage of the airport service is that you are not forced to return to the hotel you drop your bags at, but instead can go anywhere and do anything - so e.g. if you want to go for dinner at a specific resto that isn't near the pier, you don't have to backtrack there to get your bags. Also, without bags the SkyTrain is even easier to use - which pretty much saves you the cost of the bag transfer right there! $2.75pp to YVR after 6:30pm, and with the rush of cruise pax long gone by the time your flight rolls around I'd be very comfortable arriving only 2 hours pre-flight even for a US-bound flight. If you don't have particular plans in mind, consider a HOHO - you'll see a good chunk of the city, can get off at attractions you want to actually visit, and since your bags are taken care of you don't need to worry about the lack of luggage storage onboard. For one couple in our group, Sending it on to the airport would be great as their flight is 10p back to DC. However the remaining four of us aren't flying back to the states until next morning and we're staying at a hotel in Richmond. Is our only alternative to have a downtown hotel hold our luggage as we plan to tour Vancouver and have dinner before everyone goes their separate ways? Also for a 7:30am flight to DEN on Sunday morning in June, how early do we need to be at the airport?

This would be our best option. Celebrity told me they want $100.00 a person to send our luggage. UNREAL!! Our flight doesn't leave till 10 at night and we would love to just go around Vancouver without the luggage.

No reservation is necessary but they only transfer the luggage once a day and that is in the late afternoon so as I recall it is not available at YVR until about 5:30 or 6:00 pm....which would work for you. Is our only alternative to have a downtown hotel hold our luggage as we plan to tour Vancouver and have dinner before everyone goes their separate ways? The $40 airport transfer is good for the airport OR HOTEL. If the Richmond Hotel is not covered..... send the luggage to the airport and then your friends can see you off at the airport while retrieving their luggage. They can then go to their Richmond Hotel with a shuttle or taxi. BTW.... which Richmond hotel? No reservations needed to m knowledge.... however this popular service can have long lines with the popularity. Look for the line near the car rentals. xlxo Posted April 12, 2016 #9 Share Posted April 12, 2016 Also for a 7:30am flight to DEN on Sunday morning in June, how early do we need to be at the airport? In general.... you want to be there 3hrs preflight for customs and security searches. However others have said they may not open til 5am.

dz63 Posted April 14, 2016 #11 Share Posted April 14, 2016 We have a late flight out of Vancouver after cruise {9:45pm}. Anyideas for luggage so that we could enjoy the day? Thanks Another idea would be to take a post cruise excursion. We booked a post cruise excursion with LandSea Adventures. They pick up right from the cruise terminal, handle your luggage, take you on a guided tour and then drop you and your luggage off at either the airport or your hotel. Unless you go outside Vancouver, up to Whistler, post-cruise tours don't help much with late flights - they all get you to YVR for about 1-2pm. Even the Whistler one is only about a 5pm airport arrival, which means you're stuck with dinner at YVR...
monicajay Posted April 20, 2016 #13 Share Posted April 20, 2016 2 hours before if you are checking luggage. 90 minutes if not. You will clear US customs prior to leaving our country.

Putterdude Posted April 22, 2016 #15 Share Posted April 22, 2016 It will be early but you are likely flying UA at 0736 and there appears to be only about 6 flights between 0630 and 0730 to the US so the lines at security and CBP should not be long. We'll plan to leave our hotel in Richmond by 0530
