I live in Plantation. The Renaissance is a beautiful hotel. Plantation is very centrally located; about 20 minutes from everything, including downtown Fort Lauderdale, the airport and Port Everglades. Here is the website for the watertaxi. I recommend picking it up at Las Olas Riverfront or Shirttail Charlies, which is a great very casual restaurant where you can eat on the water. There are lots of restaurants in Plantation. I'd be happy to answer any questions.

As the above poster said, the Renaissance Plantation is a very nice hotel, as long as you have a rental car! It's in an office park alongside I-595 making it very easy to get from there to anywhere. There's nothing within walking distance of the hotel though except offices.

The Water Taxi website has a printable map and schedule on it... http://www.watertaxi.com/FortLauderdale/FLLMap.Asp

Don't miss Las Olas Blvd... http://www.lasolasboulevard.com/

If you're into shopping you'll probably like Sawgrass Mills Mall... http://www.sawgrassmillsmall.com/

Trent or Schack,

We will also be staying at the Renaissance in Plantation before our cruise. Are there any good Mexican restaurants reasonably close to the hotel? We will have a rental car.

There aren't very many opportunities for good Mexican food in the Interior... we always look for it when we get to the lower 48.

Thanks,

elleluv

Jalepanos in the shopping center at Sunrise & University. 5 minutes from your hotel, excellent. ;)
