Current or VERY recent Caribbean Princess cruises and casino credits

Wondering if anyone who has very recently, like in the past month, or is currently on the Caribbean Princess may be able to report on how your pre-bought casino credits were handled. The personalizer now says casino credits will be posted to your stateroom account for casino use. In the past they were certificates we took to the cash desk in the casino and they were exchanged for cash.

It would be even more beneficial if you are from Canada and had booked in CDN funds and did the above. How was it handled?

From the cruise personalizer it looks like Princess is trying to change the way this is handled but as we all know, it always varies from ship to ship on a lot of the polices and their enforcement. So, anyone with current CB info that they can share on this matter would be greatly appreciated. :)

We were on the Sea Princess from 12 Jan to 19 Feb 2016 which uses the Australian dollar for your on board account. I had pre ordered a total of $500 US casino credits for each of the three cruises. Princess has always issued my casino credits in $100 amounts and I have found the certificates in the cabin to take to the Casino cashier to get the cash.

This time, it did not work that way. For these three cruises, Princess credited my on board accounts for the casino credits I purchased. They were listed as Gift Credits for $125 Australian each. Princess used whatever conversion rate to come up with the 5 $125 AU gifts credits for each cruise.

This casino credit, along with all of our other OBC, went to cover all our on board charges made on the three cruises. Can't say that I like the new way of handling casino credits.

There was a thread a few months ago that talked about this change for casino credits so I wasn't totally surprised when I saw the credits listed on my on board account.

Can't say I like the sounds of that. We are heading on the Regal in three weeks, and I purchased both OBC and Casino Credits. It I want to play the credits and then cash out what I did not use, I should be allowed to do that. I bought OBC to pay for the excursion and cover the gratuities with a little extra to spare for wine at dinner. They are separate items and should stay as such. I hope we do not have any problems playing with our credits but cashing out if the slot machines are not paying that night. It is my money, I should be able to dictate how I want to spend my casino winnings (or losings). Guess we will find out if there are any problems when we get on board. Happy sailing...I hope!

I totally agree and this was my concern.

Your casino credits will be listed as "Gift Credit on your on board account which you can get printed at either the Passenger Services desk or at the little kiosk that most ships now have. I check my account on the first day to be sure all the credits have been applied and bring a copy of the OBC, etc I have pre purchased from Princess. If you want to play the slot machine, you will just charge what ever amount you want to play to your room card. That amount will be listed as "Casino" on your on board account. No problem with cashing out from the slot machines.

We were on the Caribbean Princess for two weeks ending January 31. We indeed had the vouchers in our stateroom redeemable at the casino desk, same as in the past. We had been warned by cc posts that this had changed and according to our cruise personalizer it looked different than in the past, but were happily surprised to see the old system was still in place. Good luck at the tables.
